Coming to Rooftop?

Here is everything you need to know about your visit to the Festival. If you’ve got any questions at all, please just drop us a line on marketing@strikealightfestival.org.uk

PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO EVERY PERSON IN YOUR POD!

Your pod

Your pod is YOURS for the whole day.

A nice big audience makes the best atmosphere for all the acts, so please stay for as much of the day as you can and show your support!

If you know you’re only gonna be on site for a few hours, you’re very welcome to pass your ticket on to some friends or family and let them use your pod for the rest of the time.

Seating

We’re doing this on a car park roof – so if you want to sit down, you’ll need to bring your own chairs. Deckchairs, plastic chairs, garden chairs, a picnic blanket…it’s entirely up to you.

It also looks set to be HOT this weekend – so if you want some shade, you’ll need to bring an umbrella or a parasol or something like that.

Getting to the Roof

The party is happening on the roof of Eastgate Shopping Centre car park – the postcode is GL1 1PA.

You’ll need to go in the Southgate Street entrance of the shopping centre (next to Greggs/Tesco) and up to the top floor. There’ll be signs directing you to the roof – or you can just follow the music.

The rest of the car park is still going to be in use as a car park, so there will be some parking available. It’s on a first-come, first-served basis and charged at the car park’s standard rates (£6 for the whole day).

Please walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the Festival if you can, to help reduce environmental impact.

Getting in

You’ll need the QR code from your ticket – you can show it via your phone, or printed out if you prefer. We’ll scan you in and show you to your pod.

For Test and Trace purposes, you must check in to the venue on the NHS Covid-19 app as well. If you don’t have the app, we’ll get your name and phone number on the door.

Once you’re scanned in, we’ll give you a wristband so you can come and go when you want.

The Rooftop Bar – run by The Outdoor Inn

There will be a licensed on-site bar, run by The Outdoor Inn. You cannot bring your own alcohol on to the site; it will be confiscated by security.

We will be employing a “Challenge 25” scheme – so if you’re under 18 (or lucky enough to look younger than 25), you must bring official ID: passport, photo drivers licence, Prove It card etc. Attendees without relevant ID will be issued with an Under 18 wristband (and thus will be refused alcohol from the bar).

Orders must be made from your pod. You’ll have to scan a QR code to access the bar menu and to make an order.

Once paid for, the bar staff will make your drinks and bring them to your pod.

This is the only option to order your drinks, so bring your device and make sure you have a suitable internet connection!

This is not a cash bar. Card/online payments only.

Food

You will be able to order coffee and cake from the on-site bar until 6pm. You can bring your own food on to the site.

There are shops, cafes and takeaways in and around the shopping centre; these will be open at their normal opening hours.

If you really want to, you could order takeaway to your Rooftop pod! Just give your name and pod number when you place your order, and tell the driver to go to security, and we’ll make sure your order gets to you!

Be weather-ready

This weekend is looking like a scorcher – wall-to-wall sunshine!

So bring a hat, sun cream and shades – and plenty of water, too.

This is England, so who knows, it might still suddenly rain; you might want to also bring something waterproof just in case.

The loo

You’ll be able to use the shopping centre toilets throughout the event. There are accessible toilets with lift access.

Access requirements

We will do our best to make your visit simple and stress-free on the day. The shopping centre does have a lift up to the roof.

If you have any particular access requirements, it would help if you can tell us in advance so that we can make preparations if necessary.
